Ruben Elendo

Ruben Elendo is a British-Congolese from London. Ruben is a first generation graduate and believes that education is the key to success but also a human right. He holds a first class Business Computing degree from the University of Greenwich and a Master of Science in International Management (Marketing) from Royal Holloway, University of London. Ruben is a professional working in London. He has gained expertise in marketing and technology through his studies and profession, where he has been able to work on interesting projects and obtained accredited certifications. 

Ruben is an avid runner and has run in The official Big Half, ASICS 10k, Cancer Research Winter Run in the U.K and Generali Genève  Half Marathon. 

He is an advocate for diversity and inclusion. He understands that diversity is a strength and not a weakness, but a way of life that enables everyone to have a seat at the table.

Ruben is disciplined, determined and focused. His strategic and innovative skills and passion for the development of the Democratic Republic of Congo 🇨🇩 will enable him to contribute to our vision for the Congo River Marathon. 

Ruben’s interest in globalization allows him to be a firm believer that sports can unite and bring nations together. 

Katelyn M Galloway

Katelyn M Galloway is a public health professional with over 10 years of experience in developing, managing, and monitoring projects that focus on HIV prevention, sexual and reproductive health, female empowerment, and improved health outcomes for adolescent girls, young women and vulnerable populations across Africa and Asia. She currently works as a Technical Advisor for FHI360, on the MOSAIC project, a global initiative that aims to increase access and uptake for HIV-prevention PrEP products among young women and key populations.

Katelyn is married to a U.S. diplomat and has lived and worked in seven countries, including Eswatini, Nepal, and Togo, where she has collaborated with regional, national and local stakeholders to implement evidence-based interventions for HIV/AIDS, WASH, and GBV. She holds a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Arizona, where she also conducted research on an HIV-protease inhibitor and later, the effect of neonatal vitamin A supplementation on health outcomes in rural India.

She is an active volunteer and has participated in various community service and outreach activities in all the countries she has lived in including teaching biotechnology to under-served students, creating a mentoring program for female students in Guinea, supporting the National Vitamin A Distribution Program in Nepal, and distributing menstrual health products and education to young women in Eswatini through a previous Kirby Simon award.

Kate currently lives in the Democratic Republic of the Congo with her husband and two children and serves on the board of the Congo River Marathon Foundation.
